What is your cultural background and how has that influenced the way you dress?
Growing up as a plus size girl in the early 2000s was not easy. In the world of “heroin-chic,” I was surrounded by low rise jeans and fad diets advertised on every magazine cover. Now at 26, my bad ass, still plus size self, stays fitted in my y2k drip; not only as an act of rebellion against both the past and present diet culture, but for my younger self too. I dress everyday to show her that she too is deserving of the Juicy tracksuits, blinged out crop tops, and even those low rise jeans she once was so scared of. — Kira
What do the words “comfortable” and “confidence” mean to you?
To me, feeling comfortable means being at ease with myself, whether in my clothes, surroundings, or company. Confidence, on the other hand, is the quiet assurance that I am enough as I am, without needing validation. When I dress in a way that aligns with my personality and values, I feel both—comfortable in my skin and confident in my presence.
